About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Special Operations Command has published a Special Notice announcing its intent to conduct a sole source procurement for Blue UAS drones at Cannon Air Force Base. The acquisition will be conducted under the authority of FAR 13.5 as a Firm-Fixed Price contract utilizing simplified acquisition procedures. This procurement is specifically for Neros Archer Quadcopter Small Unmanned Aerial Systems and supporting accessories from Neros, Inc. The contracting activity is the 27th Special Operations Contracting Squadron, and no written solicitation will be issued for this requirement. The notice was posted on August 19, 2025, with responses due by August 22, 2025.
The sole source justification is driven by unique operational requirements including FPV capabilities, a payload capacity of 10 pounds, and a range exceeding 12 kilometers, combined with compliance requirements under Section 848 of the National Defense Authorization Act and recent legislation restricting unmanned aerial systems from certain foreign countries. Neros, Inc. is identified as the only authorized vendor on the BlueUAS Cleared Vendors list capable of meeting these specific technical requirements, with no authorized distributors available. Contractors interested in responding must submit their responses via email to SrA Logan Gaib and A1C Michael Barbera, with no telephone or fax inquiries accepted. The government retains sole discretion in determining whether to compete this contract based on responses received to this notice. The procurement falls under NAICS code 336411 (Aircraft Manufacturing) and supports the Air Force Special Operations Command's unmanned aerial systems capabilities.
