About this opportunity
The Department of the Army has issued a Special Notice indicating its intent to sole source an ANSYS LST LS-DYNA Site License for 35 CPU-Cores Maintenance. The notice, posted on February 11, 2025, with a response deadline of February 17, 2025, focuses on acquiring specialized software for the Aerial Delivery Division (ADD). The specific software in question is LS-DYNA, a finite element analysis tool critical for executing complex physics-based simulations. This software will be used to support advanced computational modeling for various aerospace and system performance analyses.
The primary objective of this sole source procurement is to enable the Department of the Army to conduct sophisticated physics simulations, particularly for analyzing personnel parachute, vehicle airbag, aircraft, and standard extraction parachute system components. The LS-DYNA software will help military engineers perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Fluid-Structure-Interaction (FSI), and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) calculations. By utilizing this specialized software, the Army can generate detailed performance insights, predict system responses under various load and acceleration conditions, and identify potential failure modes. Since this is a sole source procurement, traditional competitive bidding processes will not apply, and ANSYS, Inc. is the designated sole provider of the license. The notice does not indicate specific set-aside requirements, suggesting the procurement is open to standard federal contracting procedures.
Notice text
The Government intends to sole source the ANSYS site license. ANSYS, Inc. is the licensing provider for LS-DYNA which is a finite element analysis software used to run physics-based simulations to support the Aerial Delivery Division (ADD) with system performance insights. This tool serves as a primary physics engine for executing Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Fluid-Structure-Interaction (FSI) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) calculations with geometries that represent airdrop applications. The primary purpose of LS-DYNA is to properly handle the big data calculations of personnel parachute, vehicle airbag, aircraft and standard extraction parachute system components. The LS-DYNA calculations provide performance solutions of how a system or component will respond when it experiences an applied load or acceleration and help identify potential failure modes.
