About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force's Air Combat Command has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to sole source a hangar rental for the 304th Rescue Squadron (RQS) at Madras Municipal Airport in Oregon. The notice seeks a 100 ft x 80 ft clean, climate-controlled facility to support parachute repacking and drying operations from July 12 to June 7, 2025. Specifically, the Air Force requires a hangar that meets stringent safety and operational standards for parachute maintenance. The procurement is classified under the NAICS category 531120 for Lessors of Nonresidential Buildings and PSC category X1AB for Lease/Rental of Conference Space and Facilities. The notice was posted on May 22, 2025, with a response deadline of May 27, 2025.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to secure a specialized hangar facility that meets precise operational requirements for the 304 RQS parachute maintenance activities. The government has determined that Erickson Airshow Collection is the only vendor capable of meeting their specific needs, based on the facility's location, proximity to the jump zone, and ability to provide a clean, unobstructed space with appropriate environmental controls. Contractors interested in objecting to the sole source determination are instructed to send an email to the point of contact provided in the notice. Eligibility appears limited, as market research and System for Award Management (SAM) database searches did not identify alternative vendors meeting the operational and safety requirements. The hangar must have smooth flooring, be well-lit, free of obstructions, and maintain specific temperature and cleanliness standards to preserve parachute integrity and ensure safety during post-jump recovery and repack operations.
