About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Global Strike Command has published a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole-source contract for GPS Re-Radification services at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri. The contract, designated FA462525Q1016, is specifically for the 509th Operations Group Squadron and involves inspection, maintenance, and repair of GPS hardware installed on 12 docks at the facility. This procurement falls under NAICS code 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance) with a small business size standard of $34 million. The notice follows FAR 13.106-3 requirements for public notification of sole-source commercial item acquisitions. The government intends to award this contract to Konecta GPS LLC as the only approved contractor capable of performing the required services.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to provide public transparency regarding the government's decision to proceed with a sole-source award for specialized GPS equipment maintenance services. This represents a reacquisition of services previously provided under contract FA462520P0038, ensuring continuity of critical GPS infrastructure support. The government conducted market research through a Sources Sought posting on SAM.gov and confirmed with GPS Source, Inc. that no other contractors are authorized to work on the existing GPS Re-radiation systems due to proprietary constraints. The award is scheduled to occur on or after September 11, 2025, with questions regarding the procurement directed to Morgan McGuckin and specified Air Force personnel. The sole-source determination is based on the specialized nature of the equipment and the exclusive authorization held by the intended awardee for this specific GPS technology maintenance.
