About this opportunity
The Defense Health Agency (DHA) has published a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole source contract for accreditation services related to graduate medical education. The contract will be awarded to the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), located in Chicago, Illinois, under other than full and open competition. This procurement is classified as a Special Notice rather than an open competitive opportunity. The contract will cover a one-year period beginning January 1, 2026, and will provide annual accreditation services for DHA graduate medical education programs across the entire DHA enterprise. The DHA is a defense agency within the federal government.
The primary objective of this procurement is to secure accreditation services for DHA's graduate medical education programs, which encompass residency and fellowship training for physicians following medical school. ACGME is identified as the single accreditor for graduate medical education in the United States and operates as an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that establishes and monitors professional educational standards. The contract award will be made under Justification and Approval (JA-24-0328), which was approved on November 14, 2024, and authorizes a six-year period of contracting beginning January 1, 2025. A copy of the justification supporting this sole source procurement will be posted within 15 days of contract award. Due to the sole source nature of this procurement and ACGME's unique position as the exclusive accreditor for graduate medical education in the United States, there are no opportunities for other contractors to compete for this contract.
