A SYNOPSIS OF PROPOSED CONTRACT ACTION WILL BE POSTED AT A LATER DATE WHICH WILL PROVIDE INSTRUCTIONS FOR BIDDERS TO RESPOND TO THIS OPPORTUNITY.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) anticipates issuance of solicitation 15B20318B00000002 for the award of a firm-fixed-price construction contract for a project entitled Install Automatic Switchgear at the Federal Correctional Institution located at 33 ½ Pembroke Station, Route 37, Danbury, Connecticut 06811.

The anticipated performance period for the project will be 180 calendar days from issuance of the notice to proceed. The work to be performed in association with this project includes the following scope:


Install Automatic Switchgear

The contractor shall be required to permanently install nine (9) new switchgear enclosures, drawout breakers, and all internal components; install 15kV conductors between all new switchgear enclosures for both emergency and utility feeders, and main distribution buss extension with the appropriate size and quantity of conductors to be determined by the contractor; install any new junction box or wire trough for conductor entry or termination, if required; perform dielectric test on conductors for insulation integrity and verify conductors for proper sizing; remove the existing switches and components as necessary to facilitate the installation and termination of the new conductors with no splices in enclosures; fabricate buss adaptors needed to properly terminate the new conductors to the new enclosures; perform all proper 15kV termination of the conductors in the new switchgear enclosures, and applicable junction box.

Pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 36.204, the estimated magnitude of the project lies between $500,000 and $1,000,000. (NOTE: This range is one of 8 available ranges from FAR 36.204 and is not meant to imply that the project has necessarily been estimated/budgeted to the maximum of the selected range. It merely conveys that the estimate/budget lies somewhere within that range). The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code applicable to this requirement is 238210 with a corresponding small business size standard of $15.0 million.

The FBOP is seeking small business contractors for this project. Your business size metrics information entered in your SAM registration must be less than or equal to the small business size standard specified above.
