About this opportunity

The U.S. Geological Survey is conducting market research to determine availability of qualified vendors capable of providing infrasound acoustic monitors, with responses due by June 29, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. PDT. This sources sought announcement does not commit the Government to award and is for planning purposes only; no payment will be made for response preparation.

Sensors must be existing products currently in production with established performance histories; units modified or developed solely to meet these requirements are unacceptable. Required specifications include nominal sensitivity of 0.0275V/Pa@1Hz or greater, full-scale range of 720Pa peak-to-peak or greater, differential output with maximum signal output of 20VPP, flat frequency response within 3dB from 0.02Hz to 240Hz or wider, and band-limited self-noise of 5mPa RMS from 0.05 to 200Hz or less. Dynamic range must be 110dB or greater. Power requirements specify DC supply of 11.5V to 18V or wider with reverse polarity protection and current consumption of 150mW or less. Physical constraints include maximum diameter of 4 inches, maximum height of 3.5 inches, minimum of three acoustic entry points, operating temperature range of -40°C to +65°C, and 90 percent or greater humidity tolerance. Individual sensor calibration must be within 5 percent of acceptable nominal values with traceability to a nationally accredited external laboratory calibration chamber.

Delivery is required by September 30, 2026. NAICS code 334515 applies with a size standard of 750 employees. Interested vendors should submit a brochure detailing ability to meet requirements via email to tracy_huot@ios.doi.gov.
