About this opportunity
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), a component of the Department of Health and Human Services National Institutes of Health, is seeking information on the availability and capability of qualified businesses to potentially perform research on improved outcomes in clinical trials for substance use disorders (SUDs), including stimulant and opioid use disorders. Specifically, NIDA aims to examine reduced use and improved function rather than total abstinence as endpoints, to see whether such endpoints may improve the effect size of medications tested for SUDs. Respondents should provide information on their qualifications, personnel, and relevant contracts to support this data management and analysis project. The response deadline is July 24, 2024 at 12:00 PM Eastern Time.
This procurement opportunity is not set aside for any specific business size category. There is no mention of any potential incumbents or current contractors. The notice does not provide any details on the potential award value or budget range for this requirement. The key numerical details provided indicate that NIDA is seeking to manage and analyze harmonized datasets of SUD clinical trials to investigate this research approach.
Notice text
The goal of this project is to research improved outcomes in clinical trials for substance use disorders (SUDs), including stimulant and opioid use disorders (StUD and OUD). Specifically, NIDA IRP aims to examine reduced use and improved function rather than total abstinence and to see whether such endpoints may improve the effect size of medications tested for StUd and OUD. This approach and the findings will provide novel and potentially impactful information for the field, which is consistent with the overall goal of the NIDA IRP to identify barriers and develop effective treatments for patients afflicted with SUD.
