The Defense Logistics Agency, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is conducting market research to identify manufacturing and supply sources for an Improved Magnetic R component (NSN 5963-01-620-2870, Part Number 10020C-00) in support of the Apache weapon system, with a sources-sought response deadline of October 12, 2026. This is a Sources Sought Synopsis only; no solicitation is currently available, and requests for a solicitation will not receive a response.
The acquisition is being conducted under FAR 6.302-1(a)(1) due to limited responsible sources—the data needed to acquire this part competitively is not physically available, cannot be obtained economically, and adequate specifications cannot be drafted for competitive procurement. The proposed NAICS code is 334111 (Electronic Component Manufacturing) with a size standard of 1,250 employees.
DLA seeks to determine whether future efforts can be competitive or set aside for small business. The agency is interested in all business categories, including 8(a) concerns, small businesses, small disadvantaged businesses, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, HUBZone, and Women-Owned small businesses. All contractors must meet prequalification requirements and be registered as a potential source. Firms capable of producing the required item are encouraged to identify themselves and seek source approval by visiting AvMC's public website at https://amrdec.army.afpims.mil/Directives/STI/ to compete for future solicitations. Contractors must demonstrate capability to perform and comply with all special requirements set forth in the future solicitation.
