About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration (VA Puget Sound Health Care System) is conducting market research to identify ice machine manufacturers and distributors for potential procurement. The agency is seeking high-quality ice machines with specific technical requirements, including a daily ice production capacity of 257 lbs, touchless ice and water dispensing, ADA compliance, and antimicrobial protection. The Request for Information (RFI) targets cubelet ice machines with precise specifications such as specific dimensions, R-404A refrigerant, and a NEMA 5-15 plug. Potential vendors must submit responses via email by January 15, 2025, at 3:00 PM ET. The market research aims to determine the availability of businesses capable of meeting the VA's technical and procurement requirements.
This procurement opportunity is exclusively set aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses under NAICS code 561210 for Facilities Support Services. Respondents must provide comprehensive company information, including small business status, existing government contracts, manufacturer/distributor details, and country of origin verification for machine components. The required warranty terms are extensive, mandating a 3-year warranty for parts and labor, and a 5-year warranty on the compressor and air-cooled condenser coil. While specific award values are not disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice, the detailed technical requirements suggest a precise and potentially complex procurement process. The VA's thorough market research approach indicates a strategic effort to identify qualified vendors capable of meeting their specialized ice machine needs.
