About this opportunity
The Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General has awarded a sole-source order to Vander Weele Group LLC under GSA Federal Supply Schedule contract GS00F073DA for ICE detention facility inspection services, with a total estimated value of $24.643 million, on June 16, 2026.
The justification cites unusual urgency under GSAM 538.7104-3(b)(i), driven by rapid expansion of the immigration detention system from approximately 100 facilities in early 2025 to 240 facilities by May 2026, concurrent increases in detainee population to 58,000 individuals and detainee deaths, and insufficient OIG staffing capacity to conduct the required oversight inspections. DHS OIG conducted market research identifying 39 interested vendors and selected Vander Weele Group LLC based on deployment readiness, staffing availability, relevant experience, and ability to mobilize within 30 days of award.
The order covers on-site walk-throughs, documentation of observations and deficiencies, detainee interviews, and data collection to ensure appropriate oversight of detainee health, safety, security, and relevant standards across the detention system. The contract comprises a one-year base period and one-year option, with $23.018 million allocated to services and $1.625 million to travel costs. Vander Weele Group LLC is located at 2848 Summit Avenue, Highland Park, Illinois. The contracting activity is the DHS OIG Acquisitions Division, with approvals dated June 12, 2026.

Awarded contract GS00F073DA to unknown vendor for unknown amount on 2026-06-16.
