About this opportunity

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), a civilian agency under the Department of Justice, issued this Special Notice on March 30, 2026, regarding the procurement of hotel accommodations for participants in the Special Intensive Unit (SIU) #127 training program. The notice indicates the DEA's intent to award a sole source purchase order to the Comfort Inn for 22 double occupancy rooms to house SIU students during their training course. The facility is strategically located 8.4 miles from the DEA Training Academy and just 450 feet (a 4-minute walk) from the Stafford Training Center, positioning it as an optimal location given recent base accessibility requirements. The acquisition will be conducted through simplified acquisition procedures under FAR Part 13, with a firm-fixed price purchase order anticipated. This is a solicitation for capability statements rather than competitive quotations, reflecting the government's determination that only one source can reasonably meet the stated requirements.

The primary objective of this procurement is to secure hotel accommodations for SIU #127 students checking in on April 18, 2026, and checking out on May 16, 2026. Interested contractors must submit capability statements electronically to Lori.A.Love@dea.gov by April 11, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. Eastern Time. To be eligible, vendors must have their facility listed on the List of Approved Hotels and Motels for Federal Travelers on fema.gov and must be able to provide the required number of double occupancy rooms for the specified dates with proximity to training facilities and nearby dining and shopping amenities. The sole source justification documentation indicates that market research identified the Comfort Inn as the only reasonably available source capable of meeting the government's specific requirements regarding location, capacity, and availability. The government reserves the right to award the contract solely on the basis of responses received or to make a determination not to open the requirement to competition at its sole discretion.
