High Speed Internet upgrade
The U.S. Geological Survey, Astrogeology Science Center (Flagstaff, AZ) has a requirement for high-speed internet service. In 2013 a contract was awarded for a fixed wireless solution and the term for this solution is ending. We are seeking two separate options: 1) Design, provide, and install a dedicated fiber optic high-speed internet solution and provide at minimum 300 Mb/sec dedicated service. 2) Re-use existing fixed wireless solution for high-speed internet and provide at minimum 300 Mb/sec dedicated service for three plus years. The initial period of performance will be for 1 year with the option to extend through years 2-5.
The Statement of Objectives and additional specifications will be identified in the forthcoming solicitation. In summary, however, the USGS will select a contractor capable of meeting or exceeding all stated specifications with the lowest total cost of ownership over a five (5) year period, considering all up-front costs, anticipated monthly service costs, and anticipated warranty/support costs. Prospective contractors will be invited to submit quotations for monthly service that contemplate long-term commitments as well as those that are month-to-month, and the USGS will select whichever appears more advantageous.
The Request for Quotation (RFQ), number G17PS00807, will be made available through the Government-wide Point of Entry (GPE), in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) 5.102(a)(1), on or about July 28, 2017. The Government anticipates award of a Firm-Fixed Price type contract. Please contact the Contracting Officer, in writing, by email at cciccarelli@usgs.gov, with any questions.
This notice and any resulting solicitation or contract conforms to the requirements in place through FAC 2005-95, effective 19 Jan 2017. This requirement is set aside for small businesses. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 517312 (previously NAICS 517210), Wireless Telecommunications Carriers (except satellite), and the size standard in number of employees is 1500.
