About this opportunity
This Sources Sought notice issued by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency seeks to identify sources capable of providing a high-purity germanium gamma ray spectrometer system suitable for tactical environments. The spectrometer must weigh less than 10 pounds, fit within 2500 cubic centimeters, achieve cryogenic cooling within 3 hours, and meet specified energy resolution, efficiency, and range thresholds. Responses are due by April 23, 2020 and will be evaluated based on the ability of respondents to provide the specified spectrometer system to meet the agency's tactical detection needs.
There is no set-aside designation. Key details specified include that the spectrometer must achieve an energy resolution of at least 2.5 keV at 1332 keV, 10-12% efficiency relative to a 3"x3" sodium iodide detector, and operate within an energy range of 40 keV to 3 MeV. Award values and quantity are to be determined pending evaluation of responses. All questions must be submitted in writing to the contracting officer by the stated deadline.
Notice text
This is a Sources Sought notice. This is NOT a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations.
The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) is seeking to identify companies capable of providing a high-purity Germanium R/N detector system, suitable for use in tactical, low-visibility mission environments. (See attached specifications for further details.)
This is not a request for competitive proposals; the Government is seeking viable sources within the market for the acquisition of the High-Purity Germanium (HPGe) Gamma Ray Spectrometer. Sources with the means to provide the equipment are requested to submit a one-page cover letter confirming the ability to sell the High-Purity Germanium (HPGe) Gamma Ray along with the following information: Company Name and Address, Company Business Size and Business Size Status, Point of Contact Name, Phone Number, and Email Address. All responses must be submitted no later than the published response date/time.
The findings from this Market Research effort may impact any future solicitations to this requirement. If a solicitation is issued, the Government does not guarantee that it will be issued to sources sought respondents.
All questions pertaining to this announcement must be submitted in writing to Ms. Tabitha Everly, Contracting Officer, at tabitha.a.everly.civ@mail.mil.
