About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure 8 units of valve glands under NSN 1H-4820-011021109-L1, classified as nonpowered valves for delivery to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine. This procurement represents a Level 1 item that must be acquired exclusively from approved sources due to the government's lack of data rights and the determination that purchasing data rights or reverse engineering would be uneconomical. Contractors must demonstrate that their inspection systems conform to MIL-I-45208A or equivalent standards as certified by a joint DCMA/NAVSUP WSS survey team. Additional information regarding the MIL-I-45208A requirement can be obtained from NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. The solicitation response deadline is July 17, 2025, with the original posting date of April 12, 2022.
This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designations, making it open to all qualified contractors who meet the stringent inspection system requirements. The contract specifies delivery of exactly 8 units of the valve gland components, with delivery designated to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard facility. The technical data package is identified as version 002, indicating this is an established procurement with defined specifications. No incumbent contractors or award values are specified in the pre-solicitation notice, though the restricted source approval requirements suggest this will be limited to a select group of qualified manufacturers. The extended timeline from the 2022 posting date to the 2025 response deadline indicates this may be part of a long-term procurement planning process or involve complex qualification procedures.
