About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is seeking to procure a Gearbox Assembly, Intermediate (NSN 7R-1680-015238190-H1) through this pre-solicitation notice. This is a flight-critical component that requires Government source approval prior to contract award due to unique design capabilities and manufacturing knowledge that are not economically available elsewhere. Only sources previously approved by the Government for this specific item have been solicited; however, unapproved sources may submit proposals accompanied by source approval information as detailed in the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) Source Approval Information Brochures. The procurement emphasizes the criticality of maintaining quality through qualified sources with existing engineering skills and technical data rights. Potential offerors should note the posted date of March 27, 2026, with a proposal due date of April 16, 2026. Interested contractors who are not currently approved sources should plan to submit comprehensive technical data demonstrating their company's experience in producing the same or similar items.
This procurement carries no set-aside designation and is for a quantity of three units with delivery required FOB Origin. The notice does not specify an award value or budget range. Given the requirement for Government source approval and the flight-critical nature of the gearbox assembly, the evaluation will heavily weight an offeror's qualifications, existing approvals, and ability to meet the Government's stringent technical and quality standards. New sources seeking approval should be aware that the time required for approval processes may be substantial, and delays cannot be accommodated in the contract award timeline. Contractors should review the NAVSUP WSS business opportunities portal for detailed source approval procedures and submission requirements specific to either spares or repair services, depending on their intended application.
