About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking a vendor to provide advanced cleaning and inspection services for firefighter protective gear in accordance with the 2020 NFPA 1851 standard. The procurement covers comprehensive cleaning and inspection of helmets, hoods, coats, gloves, pants, and boots, along with miscellaneous repairs to firefighter gear as needed. The vendor must meet compliance requirements outlined in NFPA 1851: 2020 edition, which establishes standards for advanced cleaning and inspection of protective ensembles. While specific evaluation criteria are not detailed in this pre-solicitation notice, vendors should expect assessment based on their capability to meet the NFPA 1851 standard requirements and their experience with firefighter gear maintenance. The due date for initial responses or questions is February 8, 2026, providing prospective bidders with a four-day window from the February 4, 2026 posting date to prepare submissions or seek clarification.

This opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, restricting competition to small business entities as defined by the Small Business Administration. The contract requires services to be performed twice annually on a recurring basis, with no specific incumbent contractor identified in this pre-solicitation notice. The vendor must manage cleaning and inspection for 25 helmets, 40 hoods, 63 coats, 25 pairs of gloves, 63 pairs of pants, and 25 pairs of boots per service cycle, along with miscellaneous repairs as needed. No specific budget range or award value is disclosed in this pre-solicitation notice, though the recurring, twice-annual service requirement and substantial quantity of items suggest a moderate contract value. Interested small businesses should monitor the Naval Supply Systems Command's procurement channels for the formal solicitation announcement expected to follow this pre-solicitation notice.
