About this opportunity

The Air Force Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base seeks procurement of an Airborne Recorder System with High-Performance Computing and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning capabilities, with responses due September 18. This is a sole source acquisition awarded to Galleon Embedded Computing LLC under 10 U.S.C. § 3204(a)(1), justified on the grounds that Galleon is the only responsible source with an existing, flight-qualified Commercial-Off-The-Shelf product meeting all minimum mission parameters.

Place of performance is Edwards AFB, California. The requirement is for the Galleon XSR2 Rugged Half Rack Server paired with a Removable Data Module with protective shutter, conduction cooling, and MIL-STD compliance in a compact form factor. The system must integrate NVIDIA-accelerated GPGPU processing and support real-time AI/ML/HPC workloads on fighter and bomber platforms, specifically the F-16 and B-52. The complete system includes the XSR2 server, XSR Removable Data Module, XSR NAS Docking System, power cable, control and management breakout cable, Ethernet breakout cable, and 10GbE Amphenol to RJ45 breakout cable.

The NAICS code is 334111, Electronic Computer Manufacturing, with a size standard of 1250 employees. The PSC code is 7B20, IT and Telecom – High Performance Compute (Hardware and Perpetual License Software). Market research determined that competing systems lack required GPGPU processing capability, rely on unsuitable active air cooling, or lack integrated flight-line servicing architecture. The determination and findings were approved by Contracting Officer Jaymi Taplin on September 10, 2026. Responses should be submitted via email to jaymi.taplin@us.af.mil.

NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE: The Air Force TEST CENTER (AFTC/PZZF) at Edwards AFB intends to award a sole source firm-fixed price-purchase order to Galleon Embedded Computing LLC (CAGE: 6QVX9) under the authority of 6.302-1, “only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.” Market research has determined that Galleon is the only vendor identified with an existing, flight-qualified, Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) product line (the XSR Rugged Server series) that natively satisfies all minimum mission parameters, including high-tier GPGPU integration, a sealed tool-free Removable Data Module (RDM) with protective shutter, conduction cooling, and MIL-STD compliance in a compact form factor.

THIS REQUIREMENT WILL BE: Sole Source to Galleon Embedded Computing LLC. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) number for this acquisition is 334111 with a size standard of 1250 employees.
