About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is seeking to identify viable domestic or non-Chinese foreign sources for specific antifriction unmounted bearings through this sources sought notice. The procurement involves 13 National Stock Numbers (NSNs) for bearings that have been determined to be foreign manufactured, requiring compliance with DFARS regulations 225.7009, 252.225-7016, 252.225-7007, and 225.770 that restrict Chinese sourcing. The agency's primary objective is to establish alternative supply sources that meet Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement requirements while avoiding prohibited Chinese sources. The government notes it typically does not own or have access to associated technical data, though procurement item description information can be provided as needed. Interested parties must submit their responses by August 15, 2025, with the notice posted on August 1, 2025.

This opportunity does not include any set-aside designation and is open to all qualifying contractors who can demonstrate compliance with the specified DFARS regulations. No incumbent contractors or current suppliers are identified in the notice, nor are specific award values or budget ranges disclosed at this pre-solicitation stage. The procurement covers 13 distinct NSNs ranging from legacy items (such as 3110-00-156-3594) to more recent additions (including 3110-01-589-5106), indicating a diverse range of bearing specifications and potentially varying quantities. The timeline suggests this is preliminary market research for a future FY26 procurement, with the government seeking to establish a qualified vendor base before issuing formal solicitations. Source approval requirements will apply for part-numbered, configuration control, and source control items, adding complexity to the qualification process for potential suppliers.
