About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is conducting a sources sought notice to identify viable domestic manufacturers for foreign-manufactured bearings under DFARS 225.7009 and DFARS 252.225-7016 regulations. The procurement involves ball and roller bearing manufacturing (NAICS 332991) specifically for antifriction, unmounted bearings (PSC 3110) with specific National Stock Numbers (NSNs) that have been determined to be foreign manufactured. The government seeks to establish domestic sourcing alternatives in accordance with Department of Defense contracting regulations, though they note that technical data for these items may not be available for dissemination. Interested parties must meet applicable conditions and documentation requirements for source approval, particularly for part numbered, configuration control, and source control items. The response deadline for this sources sought notice is August 15, 2025, providing potential domestic manufacturers a two-week window to express their capabilities.

This opportunity carries no set-aside designation and is open to all qualified domestic manufacturers. The notice references a detailed list of specific NSNs and part numbers contained in the attached government file, though specific quantities, award values, or incumbent contractor information is not disclosed in the pre-solicitation documentation. The procurement appears to be part of a fiscal year 2026 initiative (FY26-1A) focused on reducing foreign dependency for critical bearing components. The government has indicated they can provide procurement item description information as needed to assist potential domestic sources in evaluating their manufacturing capabilities. No specific contract timeline or delivery schedules are mentioned beyond the identification of domestic sourcing alternatives for these foreign-manufactured bearing items.
