About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation (DLA Aviation) is conducting a sources sought notice for foreign bearing waiver package procurement, focusing on specific National Stock Numbers (NSNs) that have been identified as foreign manufactured. The notice references DFARS 225.7009 and DFARS 252.225-7016, which govern domestic sourcing regulations for defense contracting. The primary objective is to identify viable domestic sourcing alternatives for a list of 12 specific bearing NSNs, with an emphasis on understanding potential U.S. manufacturing capabilities. While the government does not currently own or have access to the associated technical data, they are seeking information about potential domestic manufacturers who can produce these bearings. The sources sought notice is open from May 29, 2025, to June 12, 2025, providing interested manufacturers approximately two weeks to respond and demonstrate their capabilities.
The procurement falls under the NAICS category of Ball and Roller Bearing Manufacturing (332991) and the Product Service Code for Bearings, Antifriction, Unmounted (3110). There are no specific set-aside designations for this opportunity, which means all qualified manufacturers can potentially compete. The notice does not specify potential award values or exact quantities, but it indicates a focused procurement of specific bearing types across multiple NSN configurations. The solicitation suggests that manufacturers will need to demonstrate compliance with configuration control and source approval documentation requirements. While detailed technical specifications are not provided, interested parties are directed to review the referenced DFARS regulations and prepare comprehensive responses that showcase their domestic manufacturing capabilities for these specific bearing types.
