About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Nuclear Weapons Center has awarded contract FA812826CB001 to The Boeing Company, Boeing Guidance Repair Center (BGRC), on a sole-source basis for production of Fuze Assemblies (Impact Sensors) for the Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM), with an estimated award date of May 13, 2026.
The justification cites 10 USC 3204(a)(1), sole-source procurement based on unique qualifications. BGRC is the only qualified source capable of producing replacement Fuzes to ensure ALCM fleet reliability past 2030. BGRC owns proprietary data rights to the Fuze assembly drawings, manufacturing plans, and acceptance test procedures, which the company has refused to sell to the government. The acquisition is a follow-on to contract FA8128-18-C-0002 (awarded May 2018, expiring May 2026), under which BGRC has been actively delivering new Fuzes since 2020. Market research including a 30-day Sources Sought Synopsis posted July 19, 2024 identified only BGRC as a viable source; Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation's response was deemed unsuitable as it proposed an unrelated fuze modernization. The J&A establishes that establishing a competing source would cost millions of dollars and add up to three years to the program due to manufacturing setup, facility certification, trained personnel development, and production proficiency requirements that BGRC has already achieved.
The contract is structured as firm-fixed-price, with an 18-month delivery period from July 1, 2025 through December 30, 2026. Work is performed at Boeing Guidance Repair Center. The acquisition supports Air Force Instruction 1067, signed in 2015, which confirmed the need for replacement of the ALCM's Impact Sensor.
Notice text
AF 1067 was signed in 2015 confirming the need for a replacement to the Air Launch Cruise Missile's (ALCM) Imppact Sensor, also know as the Fuze Assembly. The Fuze Assembly has three seperate sensors located at strategic points within the ALCM. These sensors provide an output signal to the Warhead Arming Device. Mechanically, the Fuze assembly is a G-force operated switch. the effort will be a follow on contract to produce the required Fuzes needed to sustain ALCM past 2030.
Awarded contract FA812826CB001 to unknown vendor for unknown amount on 2026-05-13.
