About this opportunity

The Bureau of Land Management's San Juan Islands National Monument is seeking to lease office space in Friday Harbor, Washington to support its conservation, preservation, and outreach mission across the San Juan Islands. This civilian federal agency requires 900-1,200 square feet of flexible office space capable of accommodating two full-time employees, up to two seasonal staff, and visiting personnel from mainland-based teams. Key requirements include office space for 2-4 people, a small meeting or shared conference area, storage for field equipment and outreach materials, reliable internet access, utilities, parking for two vehicles, and toilet and break room facilities. Prospective lessors must submit expressions of interest by December 20, 2025, providing detailed information including building specifications, square footage (both usable and rentable), rental rates per rentable square foot, parking availability and costs, building ownership details, and energy efficiency features. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on December 2, 2025, allowing prospective landlords approximately 18 days to prepare and submit their responses.

This procurement carries no set-aside designation and represents a lease opportunity rather than a fixed-price contract, making it available to all qualified commercial landlords in the Friday Harbor area. No incumbent contractor or previous lease holder is identified in the pre-solicitation notice. The specific budget or award value is not disclosed in the announcement, though the rental rate structure will be negotiated based on submitted proposals and prevailing commercial real estate market rates in Friday Harbor. The lease term and other financial parameters will likely be negotiated following the evaluation of initial expressions of interest. This opportunity represents an ongoing operational requirement for the BLM's local presence in the San Juan Islands rather than a time-limited project with a defined completion date.
