About this opportunity

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk Engineering District, is conducting a timber sale solicitation offering standing timber on 306 acres across four harvest blocks at Fort A.P. Hill Military Installation in Bowling Green, Virginia. The procurement involves two items totaling approximately 29,763 tons of various timber types including pine sawtimber, pine chip-n-saw, pine pulpwood, oak sawtimber, poplar sawtimber, miscellaneous hardwood sawtimber, hardwood pulpwood, and optional chips. Contractors must be Virginia SHARP Logger certified or equivalent, and the timber will be sold by weight using unit pricing per ton rather than traditional volume measurements. The evaluation will be conducted through an Invitation for Bid process with bid opening scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on September 11, 2025. Bidders must submit a 20% bid deposit with their proposals, and the solicitation includes detailed merchantability definitions and environmental protection requirements.

This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designations and no current contractors or incumbents are identified in the solicitation materials. While specific award values are not disclosed, the substantial volume of nearly 30,000 tons of timber across multiple species categories suggests a significant contract value. Item 1 encompasses 228 acres across two blocks with approximately 22,643 tons of timber, while Item 2 covers 78 acres in two blocks containing approximately 7,120 tons. All harvesting operations including tree felling, skidding, processing, and hauling must be completed prior to April 1, 2027, with final site rehabilitation activities due by April 15, 2027, and a prohibition on tree cutting between April 1 and September 30 annually. The work will be performed at Fort A.P. Hill Military Installation in Bowling Green, Virginia, with specific training areas designated as TA-5CA (30 acres) and TA-05C-25 (198 acres) for the primary harvest blocks.
