About this opportunity

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District, is seeking a contractor for the Flood Protection Project Rehabilitation at Saw Mill Run in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The project involves rehabilitation work in two specific areas: a downstream area spanning approximately 780 feet near Violet Way and Neptune Street, and an upstream area of about 460 feet near Wabash Street and Greentree Road. The scope includes repairing revetment mat damages, addressing channel scour holes, and fixing access ramp damages, with some work to be covered by federal funds and some by sponsor deferred maintenance. The solicitation is structured as a competitive procurement with a due date of January 14, 2025, and requires careful review of the specific station (STA) locations and associated repair requirements. Potential bidders should closely examine the detailed project specifications and coordinate with the City of Pittsburgh, which is planning concurrent maintenance work in the project areas.

The contract is set aside for total small business participation and falls under the NAICS category 237990 for Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction. While specific award values were not explicitly stated in the solicitation, the project involves precise civil engineering rehabilitation work across two distinct areas of the Saw Mill Run channel. The place of performance is located in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, with work concentrated around specific channel segments near Violet Way, Neptune Street, Wabash Street, and Greentree Road. A site visit was conducted on December 18, 2024, which included representatives from potential contractors such as Cale Construction Company, Aspen Construction Co, and BRG Industries, Inc. The project appears to be part of a coordinated effort between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the City of Pittsburgh to maintain and rehabilitate critical flood protection infrastructure.
