About this opportunity
The Naval Supply Systems Command is procuring flame retardant Douglas Fir wooden shoring lumber for the USS ESSEX Deck Department through a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial supplies. The requirement consists of 115 total pieces of fire-treated Douglas Fir lumber in four different dimensions: 27 pieces of 8x8x10, 30 pieces of 8x8x12, 28 pieces of 8x8x16, and 30 pieces of 8x8x20 lumber. Contractors must submit firm-fixed-price proposals with detailed cost breakdowns including shipping and handling charges, and personnel performing delivery services must have Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) registration. The government will evaluate proposals based on the most advantageous offer to the government from responsible offerors whose proposals conform to solicitation requirements. The solicitation was posted on August 12, 2025, with proposals due by August 15, 2025, providing only three days for response preparation.
This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designation and no incumbent contractors are identified in the solicitation documents. While specific award values or budget ranges are not disclosed, the contract involves delivering 115 pieces of specialized fire-treated lumber totaling various lengths. The desired delivery timeline is September 19, 2025, or as soon as possible after contract award, with delivery required FOB Destination to Naval Base San Diego. Performance will occur at Naval Base San Diego, California, where the lumber will be delivered directly to the USS ESSEX at its designated pier location, which will be communicated to the contractor at the time of delivery. The specialized nature of the flame retardant treatment requirement indicates these materials cannot be procured through standard Navy supply channels.
