About this opportunity
The USGS Western Ecological Research Center, under the Department of the Interior, is soliciting fire ecology research and data synthesis services through a Request for Quotation. The contractor will perform statistical analyses to diagnose how fire response strategies vary across California and deliver research findings in digital formats. Key requirements include analysis of shrub species distribution and postfire response, topographic and vegetation characteristics, historical fire perimeter data extraction, and multivariate statistical analysis using techniques such as classification trees, random forests, GAMs, GLMs, and cluster analysis. The contractor must demonstrate expertise in R statistical programming, spatial database analysis, California fire history, and fire-induced type conversion in chaparral ecosystems. Evaluation will be based on the contractor's technical approach, relevant experience performing similar work, key personnel qualifications, and demonstration of at least one prior comparable project.
