About this opportunity
The Department of the Army is issuing a Sources Sought Questionnaire to identify Original Equipment Manufacturers and other sources capable of providing the Family of Utility Support Equipment (FUSE) systems, with responses due by July 6, 2026. The Army anticipates procuring an estimated six FUSE systems over a two-year period on a Firm Fixed Price basis; quantities and contract length are not binding and subject to change.
FUSE comprises four component types with specific technical requirements: Type I (Aerial Lift/Bucket Truck) with 40–50 ft. work height and 46kV insulating boom; Type II (Auger/Derrick Truck) with minimum 44 ft. sheave height and 30,000 lbs. fully retracted weight capacity; Type III (Combination Pole/Reel Trailer) accommodating 40–65 ft. poles and up to four 36-inch reels; and Type IV (Cable Handling Trailer) capable of handling reels up to 78 inches in diameter and 14,000 lbs. All systems must be road legal for CONUS and NATO transport, capable of worldwide air/rail/marine transport, and equipped with tactical vehicle engines compatible with JP-8 fuel.
Respondents must provide manufacturing capabilities, U.S. Government contract experience, current build rates, estimated costs broken out by FUSE type, production timelines, subcontracting arrangements, compliance with ASME/AWS welding codes, and test support capabilities. Proprietary information clearly marked will not be shared with competitors. Responses should be submitted to david.s.berosik.civ@army.mil with subject line "Availability of the FUSE."
