Notice text

The Fleet & Industrial Supply Center San Diego (FISC SD) California hereby gives notice of intent to award a sole source requirement to Innovative Micro Technology (IMT) DBA Santa Barbara Tool and Die, Goleta, CA 93117 under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). The Physics Department at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), Monterey, CA has a requirement for the fabrication, testing and delivery of the chips resulting from six (6) Silicon-Insulator-Silicon (SIO) wafer starts based on NPS' wafer design specifications using customized MEMS processes previously fabricated by Santa Barbara Tool and Die. The wafer starts are the second generation or logical follow-on of the Government's requirements for wafer starts previously fabricated under N00244-09-P-0599. IMT is the only vendor that can provide the in-house customized and proprietary processes required for the fabrication of the wafers that meets the Government's requirements. The Government's wafer design does not conform to any MEMS fabrication rules of foundries that ordinarily provide high quality fabrication of shared wafers. IMT has a unique proprietary process dealing with the SOI layers which meets the Government's stringent field emission and voltage requirement and in which the second generation of wafer starts evolves and is now required. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation document is available. Interested parties shall submit information that indicates their ability to satisfy this requirement, N00244-10-T-0099. Responses are due by 3:30 p.m Pacific, 29 January 2010, via email. POC is Kelley C. Wall, (805) 982-6036 or email kelley.wall@navy.mil.
