About this opportunity
Paragraph 1:
The U.S. Department of the Navy's Naval Air Systems Command is seeking to issue orders under a basic agreement with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company (LM-Aero) for a modular system capable of directly injecting synthetic electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) imagery into a system under test for various fixed-wing and rotary-wing platforms. This acquisition is being pursued on a sole-source basis as LM-Aero is the sole designer, developer, manufacturer, and integrator of the F-35 aircraft and the related equipment. The government requires LM-Aero's experience, special skills, proprietary technical documentation, software/algorithms, and technical expertise to provide the necessary supplies and services within the required timeframe.
Paragraph 2:
This solicitation is not set aside for any particular business type. LM-Aero is the incumbent contractor and the only known qualified, responsible source that can fulfill the requirements. The contract will be for an unspecified value, and the place of performance will be at LM-Aero's facility in Fort Worth, Texas. While subcontracting opportunities may be available, interested parties are advised to seek those opportunities directly with LM-Aero. The solicitation notice is not a request for competitive proposals, but the government may consider any responses received for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
