About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Construction and Equipment division has issued a sources sought notice for fire extinguishers under NSN 4210-01-583-8143, seeking to identify potential suppliers for a possible Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract not exceeding five years. This market research initiative aims to gather comprehensive information about commercial availability, production capabilities, pricing structures, and vendor qualifications from companies capable of manufacturing or supplying fire extinguishers. Interested parties must provide detailed responses including business size classification, inventory status, production lead times, commercial item characteristics, and surge operation capabilities. Key technical requirements include mandatory registration with the Vendor Shipment Module (VSM) for transportation coordination and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) capabilities for seamless procurement integration. The notice emphasizes that technical data associated with this item is subject to export control regulations under either ITAR or EAR, requiring appropriate authorization from the Department of State or Commerce prior to any export or disclosure to foreign nationals. All responses to this market survey are due by October 1, 2025.
This procurement opportunity operates under the "All Other Miscellaneous Manufacturing" NAICS code 33999 and falls within the Miscellaneous Fire Control Equipment PSC category 1290, with no set-aside designation applied. The notice does not identify any current incumbent contractors or provide specific award values, as this represents an information-gathering phase rather than a formal solicitation. Companies responding must maintain current SAM registration and provide verification of their socioeconomic status as part of the market research requirements. The DLA has enhanced its Joint Certification Program registration and validation procedures, with selected National Stock Numbers requiring additional permissions for technical data access through the jcpvalidation@dla.mil process. Vendors unable to access technical data through DLA cFolders must submit one-time requests for consideration, and the agency has established specific inquiry procedures for companies seeking technical data access after completing required JCP submissions.
