About this opportunity
The United States Marine Corps (MARCORSYSCOM) is conducting market research to procure an Extendable Boom Forklift (EBFL), a specialized diesel-powered rough terrain vehicle designed for military logistics operations. The forklift must be capable of loading and unloading military pallets weighing up to 10,000 pounds from various transportation assets, including CH-53E/K aircraft and ISO containers, with specific operational requirements such as adjustable fork tine width (0-76 inches) and ability to traverse challenging terrain like sand, snow, and mud. The solicitation (M67854-25-I-5014) was posted on April 15, 2025, with initial market research responses due by May 15, 2025. Vendors are requested to submit detailed information including monthly production rates, pricing, manufacturing capabilities, specification sheets, and small business status via PDF to jamie.fullinwider@usmc.mil. The Request for Proposal is anticipated to be released in Fiscal Year 2026, indicating a comprehensive procurement process that will carefully evaluate potential suppliers' capabilities and readiness.
The procurement is not designated for any specific set-aside category, meaning it is open to all qualified vendors. The Marine Corps plans to purchase approximately 348 EBFLs, suggesting a significant contract value that could be attractive to industrial truck and tractor manufacturers. The forklift must meet stringent technical specifications, including interoperability with two separate quick attach/detachable carriages capable of lifting palletized materials at varying load centers (11,000 lb at 24-inch load center or 7,000 lb at 48-inch load center). The procurement falls under NAICS category 333924 (Industrial Truck, Tractor, Trailer, and Stacker Machinery Manufacturing) and PSC category 3930 (Warehouse Trucks And Tractors, Self-Propelled), which provides additional context for potential bidders. The comprehensive requirements and large quantity indicate a robust and competitive procurement process that will likely attract multiple manufacturers specializing in heavy-duty material handling equipment.
