Notice text
The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) intends to procure the manufacture and assembly of the rotor for three of the VIRGINIA Class submarine propulsor systems required to support the Block III (FY11-FY13) and Block IV (FY14 and FY15) ship construction program. The solicitation will be for four years comprised of one base and three option periods. The base year provides for one rough machined rotor casting and associated non-recurring engineering and manufacturing efforts to reflect lessons learned and design changes from prior units. These deliverables will be incorporated into the first option period resulting in the first manufactured and assembled rotor. Each of the two additional option periods will provide one complete rotor.
The solicitation will be issued to Rolls-Royce Naval Marine, Incorporated (RRNMI), 3719 Industrial Road, Pascagoula, MS 39581-5232 since it has prior success in the manufacture of a VIRGINIA Class rotor and is the only company that possesses the design, data and expertise necessary to provide the supplies within the time required to meet the Navy’s requirements. Companies interested in subcontracting opportunities should contact RRNMI directly. Questions regarding the synopsis should be directed to Fred M. Pohlmann at fred.pohlmann@navy.mil.
This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.eps.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce Online (NECO) site located at http://www.neco.navy.mil.
While it is understood that FBO is the single entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Naval Sea Systems Command.
