About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center is seeking to procure ten (10) Automatic Tap Testers, which are handheld, battery-powered instruments designed to detect disbonding, damage, and delamination in honeycomb materials. The equipment must meet specific technical requirements, including the ability to detect defects in panels up to 5mm thick, provide both audio and visual detection cues through LEDs and a buzzer, and include a remote probe for accessing hard-to-reach areas. Each unit must come equipped with an XY plotter for defect mapping, necessary calibration items and cables, replaceable acrylic feet and hammerheads, required software, a durable protective case with foam cutouts, a certificate of conformance, a traceable calibration certificate, and a manufacturer's warranty. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on December 3, 2025, with a due date of December 4, 2025, providing potential bidders with limited time to prepare their responses.
This pre-solicitation does not utilize any set-aside designations, meaning all qualified contractors are eligible to bid. The notice does not disclose an estimated award value or budget range, nor does it identify any incumbent contractors or current suppliers. The procurement is classified under NAICS Category 334519 (Other Measuring and Controlling Device Manufacturing) and PSC Category 6695 (Combination and Miscellaneous Instruments), indicating the technical nature of the required equipment. The tight timeline between posting and the due date suggests that this may be an expedited procurement, and interested contractors should act promptly to submit their proposals or inquiries.
