About this opportunity
The Department of the Treasury Bureau of Engraving and Printing is conducting market research to identify vendors capable of providing ergonomic drum handling equipment (ink jacks) by November 7, 2026, with this procurement set aside for total small business.
The equipment must safely lift, transport, and handle 55-gallon drums containing ink, solvents, and waste materials. Minimum technical specifications include a lifting capacity of 600 pounds, lift height of at least six inches, operational base width of at least 28 inches internally, machine guarding for pinch hazards, and bonding provisions for drum-transfer operations. The design must prioritize pushing with vertical or adjustable full-hand handles supporting neutral postures; initial push or pull force must not exceed 40 pounds when fully loaded, with powered travel required if this criterion cannot be met due to load weight, travel distance, floor conditions, or other factors. Wheels and casters must suit facility flooring with positive parking brakes holding fully loaded units. Place of performance is the Bureau of Engraving and Printing facility at 301 14th Street SW, Washington, DC 20228.
Capability statements are due November 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. Responses must include general company information, SAM.gov registration status, business size and socioeconomic categories (NAICS 333998), subcontractor or teaming details, product manufacturer information, technical capabilities addressing each requirement, available models with rated capacities and safety features, and recommendations on contract type and anticipated response timeline. Questions must be submitted by October 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM EST to Marc Curry at marc.curry@treasury.gov. This notice is for market research only and does not constitute a solicitation or obligation to award a contract.
