About this opportunity

The Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Marketing and Regulatory Programs Business Services has published a Special Notice for the upgrade of an epMotion 5075 liquid handling system used by the USDA APHIS Plant Germplasm Quarantine Program in Beltsville, MD. This is a notice of intent to solicit from a single source in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b), and quotes are not being requested.

The purpose of this Special Notice is to upgrade the existing epMotion 5075 liquid handling system to the next generation Mercury system in order to maintain the high throughput molecular testing workflow essential for the timely release of plants from quarantine. The upgrade must include all Eppendorf OEM parts, software, on-site support, training, and a 1-year warranty, and can only be performed by Eppendorf, the sole authorized provider. The total estimated cost for the upgrade is $26,610.30. This opportunity is set aside for small businesses, and market research has confirmed that Eppendorf is the sole vendor capable of fulfilling this requirement due to the proprietary nature of the system and the need for full Eppendorf compatibility.
