About this opportunity

NASA Headquarters is issuing a Request for Information on May 11, 2026, to gather information on advanced computing capabilities and partnership approaches addressing critical computing gaps across three technical themes, with responses due by June 1, 2026. This RFI is for information-gathering and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation, commitment to procure, or request for proposal; any future activity will be executed through appropriate NASA mechanisms determined later.

NASA seeks input from industry and academic institutions on three complementary themes. Theme 1 addresses Adaptive Mission Intelligence Platforms that fuse diverse datasets with advanced modeling and AI to improve mission planning, certification, and real-time decision making. Theme 2 targets Computing in Extreme Environments, seeking radiation-hardened, AI-enabled edge systems for autonomous operations in lunar, Martian, Sun-Earth Lagrange point 2, and other deep space conditions. Theme 3 focuses on Advanced High-End Computing for Integrated Aerospace Systems to scale simulation and uncertainty quantification to mission-level fidelity using heterogeneous architectures and physics-informed AI for next-generation aerospace design and certification.

Responses must be submitted electronically to HQ-HEC-Partnerships@mail.nasa.gov by 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on June 1, 2026, not exceeding 10 pages (excluding cover page and optional appendices) in 12-point font with 1-inch margins as PDF. Respondents must address organizational details, theme alignment and technical capabilities, partnership approach, technical maturity and readiness, and security and compliance requirements including FISMA standards, ITAR, EAR, PHI, and PII compliance. NASA also explores four collaboration areas: secure, high-performance on-premises systems for sensitive workloads; episodic surge access to commercial platforms for large-scale simulations and AI model training; resilient, AI-enabled computing for space supporting autonomous operations; and access to next-generation computing systems within partner facilities for testing and evaluation.
