About this opportunity
The United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service's Pacific Northwest Region (Region 6) has issued a Special Notice for a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) call request related to the Ellis Timber Sale Prep project. The notice is specifically targeting commercial timber harvest unit preparation within the Heppner and North Fork John Day Ranger Districts of the Umatilla National Forest. The opportunity is categorized under Support Activities for Forestry (NAICS 115310) and is set aside exclusively for small businesses. This solicitation is being conducted through a previously established BPA for Vegetation Management services, with a focused approach on professional and forestry-related tasks. The contract opportunity was posted on May 16, 2025, with a response deadline of June 3, 2025.
The primary objective of this call request is to secure contractors for comprehensive timber harvest unit layout and associated preparatory tasks. Eligible contractors are limited to current BPA holders specifically awarded for Vegetation Management services, ensuring a pre-qualified pool of vendors. Key requirements include laying out harvest units, tagging and painting unit boundaries, developing logging systems worksheets, mapping temporary road locations, and providing GPS unit boundaries according to precise Forest Service standards outlined in the Timber Cruising Handbook. Contractors must adhere to specific technical guidelines, including Area Determination protocols, boundary marking specifications, and the government's established Quality Control Plan. The anticipated contract award date is June 9, 2025, with work to be performed in the Umatilla National Forest. The project emphasizes precise technical preparation to support subsequent commercial timber harvesting operations, requiring detailed and methodical site assessment and documentation.
