About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure electronic components, specifically NSN 7R-5998-016863270-KB, with a quantity of 5 units to be delivered FOB Origin. The solicitation is unique in that the part must be acquired from or repaired by sources specified on a source control or selected item drawing, as defined by DoD-STD-100. Potential contractors must obtain source approval from NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) prior to contract award, as the item is flight critical and current technical data is insufficient to support full and open competition. Interested parties must submit detailed technical information based on their production experience, and only sources previously approved by the Government will be considered. The proposal submission window is 45 days from the publication date (or 30 days if awarded under an existing Basic Ordering Agreement), with all proposals to be evaluated by the Government.
The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside designation for this contract opportunity. While the exact award value is not specified, the procurement involves a small quantity of 5 electronic components that are critical to flight operations. Contractors must demonstrate extensive technical capabilities and obtain prior Government approval to be considered for the contract. The Government has indicated that if source approval cannot be processed in time to meet requirements, the award may proceed based on Fleet support needs. Potential contractors must carefully review and comply with the NAVSUP WSS Source Approval Information Brochures, which provide detailed guidance on the technical data and information required for submission. Interested parties have 15 days to identify their capability to satisfy the requirement with a commercial item, though the Government retains sole discretion in determining the procurement approach.
