About this opportunity

Army Contracting Command (ACC) New Jersey, Picatinny Arsenal, is conducting a market survey on behalf of Program Manager Howitzer Systems to identify potential sources for an electric forklift, with responses due by July 17, 2026. This is a sources-sought notice for planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation or obligation.

The Army seeks a sit-down style rider forklift powered exclusively by a maintenance-free lithium-ion battery with a lift capacity of 3,000 to 4,000 pounds. The equipment must feature a three-stage (triplex) mast with a minimum lift height of 14 feet, standard 42-inch forks with integrated side-shifter, and demonstrate right-angle stacking aisle maneuverability not exceeding 120 inches when carrying a standard 48-inch pallet. Tires must be dual-purpose (pneumatic or solid pneumatic) capable of operation on both smooth warehouse concrete and rough exterior surfaces. The forklift must safely traverse loaded and unloaded inclines of at least 6.65 degrees.

The charging system must be compatible with standard US single-phase power supply (60 Hz, 220/240 volts) and configured to support the lithium-ion battery with opportunity charging capability. The equipment must include a standard safety package comprising automatic backup alarm, operator presence sensing system, high-visibility seatbelt, horn, and overhead guard, plus visual safety alerts including high-visibility amber strobe light and blue safety pedestrian spotlights in forward and reverse directions. Full compliance with OSHA 1910.178 (Powered Industrial Trucks) and ANSI/ITSDF B56.1 standards is required. No set-aside is anticipated.
