About this opportunity
The U.S. Army Contracting Command-New Jersey at Picatinny Arsenal is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources for a dual caliber machine gun capable of firing both .338 Norma and 6.8x51mm XM1186 ammunition. The solicitation requires interested companies to submit a comprehensive technical summary detailing the machine gun's design, including performance analysis, test results, and potential technical challenges associated with the conversion kit. Respondents must provide specifications, brochures, technical documentation, and information about manufacturing readiness, with submissions limited to 10 pages excluding contract history. The market survey requires companies to complete a detailed vendor questionnaire covering company information, business classification, and commerciality status. Responses must be submitted by April 6, 2025, and companies must first sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement to receive detailed 6.8mm ammunition specifications.
The procurement does not have a specific small business set-aside, though the NAICS code 332994 has a small business size standard of 1,000 employees. The government is seeking to evaluate small quantities of the weapon system, specifically requesting information about lead times and capabilities to produce and deliver up to 5 weapons and conversion kits for government evaluation. Potential respondents must provide their CAGE code, DUNS number, and indicate their business type, which could include small business, large business, 8(a), HUBZone, or Service-Disabled Veteran-owned categories. While no specific award value is mentioned, the solicitation indicates this is a market research effort to support potential future acquisitions. Interested vendors are required to email any questions to Contract Specialist Paula Fulper and Contracting Officer Megan Sloan, with the understanding that no telephone inquiries will be accepted.
