2.0 REQUIRING ACTIVITY: United States Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory (USAARL), 6901 Ferrell Road, Fort Rucker, AL 36362

3.0 ACQUISITION ACTVITY: United States Army Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA), 820 Chandler Ave., Fort Detrick, MD 21702

4.0 SUBJECT: The Warfighter Performance Group of U.S. Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory (USAARL) is conducting market research to determine the commercial industry base for the Dual Brite 54 (fNIRS)/TMSi Mobita 32 (EEG) system that meets the specifications for neurologic imaging applications. The fNIRS is a tool for assessment of the oxygenation status and hemodynamics of various organs, e.g. muscle and brain. This market research may also assist with the further development and/or refinement of the requirements.

6.0 DESCRIPTION: The Warfighter Performance Group has a requirement to procure Dual Brite 54 package allows for near whole head functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) with 20 transmitters and 16 dual channel receiving optodes. The Dual Brite system is also wireless for mobile data collection and connects to the recording laptop via Bluetooth which would allow us to collect data in the full motion helicopter simulator without the danger of the participant being tethered by wires to a computer. Additionally, the Dual Brite 54 has offline recording capabilities under battery power as well which increases the potential projects this system could be used with. The fNIRS system has 16 bit data resolution and is capable of 50 Hz sampling rate. The Dual Brite system from Cortech is completely integrated with the TMSi Mobita 32 channel EEG package with all electrodes and optodes utilizing the same head-cap. See additional specification of the system in the MECS document (Attachment 1).
