About this opportunity
The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) is seeking qualified contractors to design and manufacture a specialized cleanroom facility within Building 209, Room 123A for the Space Science Division's Flight Optics Test Evaluation and Characterization (FOTEC) program. This pre-solicitation notice is a Sources Sought Notice (SSN)/Request for Information (RFI) aimed at identifying potential sources capable of meeting the detailed requirements for an ISO 7 classified cleanroom with vertical top-down airflow. Interested parties are required to submit a response no more than 15 pages, including company information, business size, unique entity ID, capabilities statement, and any questions about the Statement of Work (SOW). Responses must be emailed to the Contract Specialist Kevin Nguyen by June 18, 2025. The primary evaluation criteria will focus on the contractor's ability to meet the technical specifications and demonstrate expertise in cleanroom design and construction for scientific and space-related applications.
The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside designations for this contract opportunity. The proposed cleanroom is approximately 13'7" x 23'11" and requires specialized features including HEPA filtration, complex electrical and network infrastructure, feed-through systems, and precise environmental controls. The anticipated project timeline includes a site visit two weeks after contract award, a final design review four weeks subsequent to the site visit, and cleanroom construction completion within 6-9 months of award. While no specific award value is mentioned, the project involves intricate technical requirements for high-sensitivity detector testing and Class IV laser operations. It is important to note that this is a planning-stage notice, and the government is not committed to issuing a solicitation or awarding a contract based on this announcement.
