About this opportunity
The United States Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM), C5ISR Center, is seeking market research responses regarding the integration of next-generation uncooled thermal sensors into advanced systems optimized for low Size, Weight, Power, and Cost (SWaP-C). Respondents are invited to submit information on complete systems and/or individual capabilities demonstrating expertise in thermal sensor integration, with particular emphasis on designing appropriate lenses to interface with Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) lens-less thermal sensors that comply with a to-be-determined Interface Control Document. Key requirements include achieving Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 or higher as demonstrated through assessment in a relevant environment, and submissions must address existing technology applicability, relevant experience integrating EO/IR sensors, innovative solutions, technology maturity assessments, rough order of magnitude costs for integration efforts, and any concerns regarding sensor integration. Unclassified responses are limited to five pages and must include company information such as business designation, CAGE code, facility clearance level, and Joint Certification Program certification status. The deadline for response submission is April 25, 2026, with responses to be submitted to usarmy.apg.devcom-c5isr.mbx.rti-industry-engagement@army.mil.
This is a Request for Information (RFI) issued for planning and market research purposes only, with no contract award anticipated and no reimbursement of respondent costs. No specific set-aside designation has been applied to this opportunity, and no current contractor names or incumbent information has been identified. The Government requests unlimited data rights in responses, though it acknowledges that proprietary data restrictions may apply to submissions. While no specific award value or budget range has been disclosed in this pre-solicitation notice, interested parties should note that Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) responses require JCP certification and must be submitted through the DoD SAFE system. The procurement falls under NAICS code 541715 (Research and Development in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Sciences) and PSC code AC13 (National Defense R&D Services—Experimental Development).
Notice text
The United States Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM), Command, Control, Computers, Communications, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) Center is performing market research to inform future system level requirements and/or prototype development/build efforts which integrate next generation uncooled thermal sensors. The desired systems shall incorporate Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) thermal sensors. These thermal sensors will be compliant with a TBD Interface Control Document and will be lens-less. The system integrators will need to design an appropriate lens for the application that will interface with the sensors to demonstrate the advanced capability and prove out Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6+ by being assessed in a relevant environment. Responses including complete systems and/or individual capabilities/expertise listed below are welcome. Proposed systems should focus on showcasing these advanced sensors in systems that are optimized for low Size, Weight, and Power and Cost (SWaP-C).
