About this opportunity

The Department of the Army is offering 36,800 pounds of deformed expended small arms casings for sale through the Camp Grayling Qualified Recycling Program, with the bid opportunity open from March 3, 2025 to March 17, 2025. The surplus property consists of brass casings in .50 caliber, 5.56 mm, 7.62 mm, and blank varieties, which have been processed through an Army Peculiar Equipment (APE) 1408 M1 munitions deformer to render them unusable for reloading. The material will be packaged in 16 Gaylord boxes, each containing approximately 2,300 pounds of brass, with the winning bidder required to either provide their own boxes capable of supporting 2,500 pounds or pay a $200 replacement fee. Payment terms mandate 80% of the total purchase price within 5 business days of award, with final payment due before material removal, and the buyer must collect the materials within 14 days of award using the Army's calibrated 4,000-pound capacity scale for weight verification. Payments must be submitted via cashier's or certified check to the U.S. Department of Treasury.
