About this opportunity
NASA Kennedy Space Center has published a Limited/Sole Source Justification Notice for extending the Deep Space Logistics ENgineering Support (LENS) contract, which provides systems engineering and integration support for the Deep Space Logistics project that manages launch services for the Gateway Logistics Module used in Artemis missions beginning with Artemis IV. The justification seeks to extend the existing task order 80KSC021F0014, originally awarded to MEI Technologies (now Aegis Aerospace) on November 30, 2020, for two additional option periods covering October 1, 2025 through November 29, 2025, and November 30, 2025 through May 29, 2026. The sole source extension is necessary due to delays in the LENS II procurement process, including NASA Headquarters' review of new contract awards and changes to Gateway mission requirements, and is justified under FAR 16.505(b)(2)(i)(C) as a logical follow-on to maintain continuity in critical engineering services. While specific award values are not disclosed in the notice, the extension will keep the total potential contract value within the original scope and approval authority. NASA plans to conduct a full competitive procurement for LENS II through the OASIS+ Total Small Business contract in Calendar Year 2025 to ensure future competition while maintaining uninterrupted support for the Artemis program's deep space logistics operations.
Notice text
The LENS engineering services support the Deep Space Logistics (DSL) project office at Kennedy Space Center (KSC). DSL is tasked with providing the launch service for the Gateway Logistics Module used in support of the Artemis missions (beginning with Artemis IV) and do so via a separate launch services contract, Gateway Logistics Services (GLS). This includes systems engineering and integration support of all DSL related work to develop, integrate, and execute the GLS missions.
Awarded contract 80KSC021F0014 to unknown vendor for unknown amount on 2020-11-30.
