About this opportunity
NASA's National Shared Services Center (NSSC) has issued a Special Notice for a Data-Enabled Additive Manufacturing (AM) Qualification project focused on a landscape analysis of in-situ process monitoring and control technologies. The notice indicates NASA's intent to issue a sole source contract to the American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM) located in Washington, D.C. The procurement will be conducted under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) and will be performed at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center. The project falls under the NAICS code 813920 for Professional Organizations and is classified as a commercial item and service acquisition. NASA has determined that ASTM is the sole provider capable of executing this specific landscape analysis.
Contractors interested in this opportunity must submit their capabilities and qualifications in writing by 3:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on April 23, 2025, to the designated points of contact, Cody Guidry (Procurement Specialist) or Shari Trigg (Contracting Officer). The primary objective of this project is to develop a comprehensive understanding of in-situ monitoring (ISM) technology in additive manufacturing, including research needs and standardization gaps. The project will involve a landscape analysis that includes literature review, expert interviews, and a public online survey to explore ISM's role in AM process qualification. Eligible organizations will be evaluated solely on their potential to compete for the procurement, with the government retaining full discretion on competitive decisions. The project timeline spans from April 15, 2025, to July 16, 2025, with two key deliverables: raw landscape analysis data due on June 16, 2025, and a strategic report/roadmap due on July 16, 2025.
