About this opportunity

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at the John F. Kennedy Space Center intends to award a new Purchase Order for Dampers and Energy Absorbers for the Vehicle Damper System. The proposed Purchase Order will be awarded using Other than Full and Open Competition procedures under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 3204(b)(B) and FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(iii), as the award to sources other than the original source would result in unacceptable delays and possible unsatisfactory performance. NASA is seeking (8) dampers and (8) energy absorbers, also known as buffers, as the primary mechanisms in the support of Mobile Launcher 2's (ML-2) Vehicle Damper System (VDS), which is a brand-new umbilical design required for the additional height of the Block 1B and eventual Block 2 SLS vehicle configurations. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications electronically by March 25, 2024, to be evaluated for the purpose of determining whether to conduct this acquisition on a competitive basis.

This acquisition is not set aside and does not have a specific NAICS or PSC code identified. The potential incumbent or current contractor is Taylor Devices, and the total value of the Purchase Order is not specified. The government does not intend to award a contract based on this notice, nor will it reimburse firms for any costs associated with preparing or submitting a response.
