About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure 144 compressed cylinders with National Stock Number 7R-8120-016571545-P8, specifically for repair and modification purposes. This pre-solicitation notice indicates a critical procurement requiring government source approval prior to contract award, as the items are flight-critical. Potential vendors must submit comprehensive technical data demonstrating their capability to produce the specified item, following guidelines outlined in the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Source Approval Information Brochures. Interested parties must provide all required documentation by March 17, 2025, to be considered for the contract. Failure to submit complete source approval data will result in automatic disqualification from the solicitation.

The solicitation does not have a specific set-aside designation and will be open to qualified vendors who can meet stringent technical requirements. The contract will be fulfilled via FOB origin delivery, with 144 total cylinder units being purchased. While specific award value is not disclosed, the procurement appears focused on ensuring technical capabilities and source reliability rather than purely cost-based selection. Vendors who have not previously produced similar items must submit detailed technical information demonstrating their manufacturing competence. The Navy has indicated that if source approval evaluations cannot be completed in time to meet operational requirements, they may proceed with award based on fleet support needs, suggesting potential urgency in the procurement process.
