About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) has issued Sources Sought Notice 2031ZA26N00014 to identify qualified vendors capable of supplying feature intaglio inks for U.S. currency manufacturing, including color shifting ink, metallic colors, and infrared distinct ink varieties. Respondents must demonstrate comprehensive capability through technical literature, test samples, customer reference lists with delivery history, and confirmation that products meet FAR commercial item definitions. The notice requires vendors to provide company information including DUNS numbers, business classifications, points of contact, GSA Schedule numbers, and statements of acceptance for contract terms ranging from 60 to 120 months. BEP will evaluate responses based on vendors' demonstrated technical capability, production capacity, and ability to meet all specification requirements, with the understanding that each ink supplied must fully comply with government specifications that are available upon request with submission of a letter of intent. The response deadline is March 11, 2026, and all response costs are the responsibility of the vendor; interested parties should contact Contracting Officer Wesley Rankins at wesley.rankins@bep.gov to request detailed specifications and to express their intent to participate.
This pre-solicitation notice includes no set-aside designations and identifies no incumbent contractors or current suppliers. No specific award values or budget ranges are disclosed in the Sources Sought Notice, though the anticipated solicitation references an estimated five-year period of performance. The notice does not commit the government to issue a formal solicitation or make any award; rather, it serves as market research to assess vendor availability and capability for potential future procurement action. Vendors selected based on their responses may be required to submit production-ready material samples with their formal proposals for BEP testing and evaluation. Interested parties may execute a Non-Disclosure Agreement with BEP to access detailed specifications and gain competitive insight into the technical requirements for these specialized currency inks.
